Exhibition at Ex Post – a taster

The photographs are shot, selected, edited and printed. They are being framed right now and the installation takes place later this week.

For four years I turned down all offers to exhibit and didn’t even realize how long it had been. This year I accepted an offer to take part in a small but interesting project at the Prague gallery Ex Post.

In the previous article I mentioned that this exhibition is exceptional in its way. Normally the best works from a period of several years are selected for an exhibition, but this time we (Michaela Džurná, Ondřej Janů and I) shot the photos directly for the exhibition. The deadline was exceptional too; only a few weeks passed from idea to realization.

I shot for three days in total. The first part of the photographs was created right at the exhibition venue, the then empty Ex Post gallery. For the second shoot I chose the well-known (and my favourite) afterparty club Le Clan, and on the third day I shot at home.

It is always a joy to work with professionals.
I printed the photographs for the exhibition at the photo lab Thalia Picta in Žižkov. Photos from them are nothing special, they are simply as they should be. Standardly high quality, speed, plus above-standard helpfulness and an ever-present smile. Thanks to the breakneck deadline there was no time even for a test print; I took the risk and didn’t regret it.

At this moment the framing of the photographs is still under way at the framing workshop of Miroslav Kněz at Karlovo náměstí. Here too I must praise the unbelievably helpful approach of all the people at the workshop. The first results look great, and tomorrow everything should be ready for the Friday installation of the exhibition.

The space in the gallery isn’t too large for a joint exhibition of three photographers, and not everything we might like to hang fits on the walls. The photographs that „didn’t fit“ will be viewable at Ex Post in the form of a projection (if everything turns out technically and organizationally).

The exhibition starts in less than a week, on Tuesday 19 April at 6 pm. Don’t miss three different authors‘ views of the same theme… and maybe Martin Frýč will come too 🙂
